This year over 300 clergy from around the diocese gathered at Camp Allen for prayer, encouragement, growth and renewal. The purpose of Clergy Conference is manifold. Clergy are able to come to camp and unwind in the piney woods while also getting to enjoy relevant teaching by leaders within the diocese. Yet the conference also serves to unify clergy within the diocese by providing a space for leaders to meet, empathize, encourage, and pray for one another. Bishops and priests come together to learn about each other's churches and share stories of failure and success in ministry. Bishop Andy Doyle closed the conference with vision casting for the future of Episcopal ministry in Texas. Certainly ministry is not an easy calling, but he addressed the challenges and stories of struggle with this message: "This work is built on hope." It is out of the love of Christ and faith in the Gospel that we serve, and after Clergy Conference 2016, many priests, bishops, and ministers returned to their congregations with renewed direction, conviction, and energy to sow seeds in faith!
