discovery for schools

In order to provide the best possible program for each school group, schools will work with the Discovery Program Director to create a customized schedule.  Considerations such as length of stay, student needs, classroom instructional blocks and evening activities are evaluated to create an ideal experience so every school can meet their goals.   Trips can range from one day with four hours of instruction to a multi-day trip with several hours of instruction each day.    Course options may be combined to meet the groups interests, capabilities, and needs. Browse a list of available courses or take a quick look at these sample schedules to grasp what a typical discovery school schedule looks like.

frequently asked questions

Can we add extra programming the day we arrive?
Our typical school trip starts at lunch the day you arrive and ends at lunch they day you depart.  If you want to arrive early and have a full activity period that morning, we can accommodate that with a small additional charge.  If you want to stay later on the day you depart and have a full activity period that afternoon, we can also accommodate that with a small additional charge.  Please contact the Discovery Program Director to talk about any additional activities.
Do you make ACCOMMODATIONS for food allergies or special diets?
We will do our very best to accommodate any food allergies or special diets.  However in extreme cases, we recommend the student bringing their own food. Please contact the Discovery Program Director to discuss how we can best accommodate any food allergies or special diets.
We need an hour to work with our students each day.  Can you ACCOMMODATE that?
The Discovery Program Director will work with your school to plan activity times that work best for you.  We are flexible on start times and length of programming we offer.
Do you offer scholarship assistance to schools?
We offer limited scholarship assistance to schools.  Please contact the Discovery Program Director if you feel your school will need assistance.
What size of group can you Handle?
We have schools that come with as few as 6 students, and we have schools that come with as many as 120 students.  We try to keep our activity groups between 10-15 students to give them the best experience possible.
Can You Handle students with Physical Disabilities?
All of our campsites and program areas are ADA accessible.  We will work with schools and students to figure out the best way to get them around camp, so they can enjoy the same experiences as their classmates.
Do you have any Home school Groups that attend?
While we do not allow for individual home school students to attend, we do work with home school associations or groups to plan trips.
What ages does your program serve?
We serve all age groups from kindergarten through college students.
