For 25 years, The Rev. Lacy Largent has been a faithful shepherd to the Camp Allen community, helping shape the spiritual life of generations of campers, staff, volunteers, retreat guests, and clergy. Since 2001, she has served as Camp Allen's Chaplain and Secretary of the Board of Trustees, and for more than a decade she volunteered as a Summer Camp Session Director.
Through every season, Mother Lacy's wisdom, joyful spirit, and unwavering faith have helped make Camp Allen a place where countless people have encountered the love of Christ.
Mother Lacy's ordained ministry began in 1990 and has always been rooted in caring for God's people. Throughout her vocation, she has served congregations including Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Kingwood and St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Navasota, and today serves as Priest-in-Charge of St. Francis Episcopal Church in College Station while continuing as Long-Term Supply Priest at Church of the Redeemer. Her ministry has also included hospital chaplaincy, nearly 16 years as Port Chaplain for the Houston International Seafarers' Center, leadership throughout the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, and mentoring clergy and lay leaders across the Church.
Mother Lacy is a gifted preacher, compassionate minister, trusted mentor, and beloved friend. Her ministry has never been defined by a single role, but by the countless relationships she has cultivated and the lives she has shaped. Whether guiding a camper, encouraging a staff member, preaching in the chapel, or walking alongside someone in a difficult season, she has faithfully pointed people toward hope, grace, and the love of Christ. Her influence is woven into the story of Camp Allen and will continue to be felt for generations to come.

For decades, The W.T. & Louise J. Moran Foundation has strengthened the Houston community through extraordinary generosity to organizations serving children and families, education, health, the arts, and the natural world. Their support can be seen across Houston, from Kids’ Meals and Meals on Wheels to Camp For All, Big Brothers Big Sisters, TIRR Foundation, the Houston Zoo, the Houston Museum of Natural Science, and Children’s Museum Houston.
At Camp Allen, the Foundation’s impact has been especially meaningful. With a deep love for our Discovery Outdoor Education program, the Moran Foundation has provided scholarships for students to experience hands-on learning in nature while also investing in the facilities and staff that make those experiences possible. Their name can be found throughout our Discovery Education Center, our High Ropes Challenge Course, and, most recently, new staff quarters for our outdoor educators.
The Foundation has also been a significant partner in two defining chapters in Camp Allen’s history—our Centennial and Back to Nature campaigns. Adding a special connection to tonight’s celebration, Randall Evans, one of the trustees of the Moran Foundation, is the cousin of our Starry Nights honoree, The Rev. Lacy Largent.

Turning into the driveway of the serene, tree lined 1,100 acre Grimes County property, one might not guess the humble beginnings of Camp Allen... It all started with one innovative idea, two determined individuals, a handful of tents, and a sky full of stars. In the early 1900s, Rt. Rev. Clinton S. Quin shared a dream with Christ Church Cathedral member, Rosa Lum Allen: to create a place for young people of the Diocese of Texas to go deeper in their faith. Rosa then opened up her home on Galveston Bay in the summer of 1921 and hosted the first summer camp of the Episcopal Church. Camp Allen has since traversed over 150 miles and 100 years to reach where it is today. With a journey from 10 to 1,100 acres and 36 campers to 70,000 annual guests, the ministry remains the same. Camp Allen is known for being a place where lives are transformed by the gospel and leaders are made.
The challenge today is that many children from economically disadvantaged families and schools need financial assistance in order to be able to participate in our nationally known programs. The mission of Starry Nights is to bridge this gap by supporting the camp’s Scholarship Fund and programs which makes it possible for more children and youth to experience Camp Allen.
