With Hebrews 6:19 as a namesake, one could only expect all things lovely from an organization like Anchored in Hope. When they came to Camp Allen a few weeks back, we learned all about their ministry and how they hoped their first annual retreat held for adopting and fostering mothers would encourage and uplift all in attendance. With such a unique niche, Anchored in Hope seeks to bring in, connect, empathize with, and inspire mothers in their efforts to love children who they are fostering, have adopted, or mothers who hope to foster and/or adopt. Co-founders Laura Wilkinson Hulseman, Erika Alman, Lisa Johnson, Meg Martinez and Courtney Moore prefer to call themselves "a bunch of moms doing this for other moms" as opposed to "founders." Their heart was to create a "a place where moms can breathe for a minute" and reconnect with God and other women who share similar experiences, hence, Anchored in Hope Retreat was born. Through worship, speakers, and a flexible schedule where each participant can choose an activity or simply just spend quiet time resting and fellowshipping with the Lord, Anchored in Hope Retreat ministered to 66 women from the Houston area and beyond.
