Social Studies
Texas Living History
Students assume the character of a member of a family traveling to the Austin's colony in 1830's Texas. Instructors from the Discovery Program portray historical figures from the time period, in costume and character, and share skills and information during the students's journey that will prove helpful when (and if) the pioneers reach the Austin Colonies.
Native American Studies
Students find themselves in Native American legends, myths, food, government, language, lifestyles, games and dress. They will have the opportunity to "create"a tribe, encompassing all of the above details.
Archaeology
Students will take a look at the past in our archaeological dig site. Using tools to uncover artifacts, our Discovery Instructors will help the students make inferences and create a hypothesis about what could have happened at the site, and why that is important.
